On January 24, finmypast.com is offering a chance to access records free of charge with a promotional code in celebration of Irish Family History Day. The promotional code will be posted on the findmypast US blog on Thursday, January 24.

Well, it’s Thursday 24 Jan 2013 here in the USA and I’ll be darned if I can find the promotional code this blog is talking about. WHAT is the promotional code? Or at least give me a link where it IS posted.

I’m wondering if this is a scam. I signed up, providing all my info (e.g. email address), and when I got to the end, they wanted me to subscribe. Never an indication of anything free, nor any promo code.

It is also a scam, since subscribing does not give you access to original records, only to transcriptions which are only slightly better than the search results.
What a waste of my money. A very dissatisfied US subscriber looking for Irish records.
